Password: 691348 Abstract: Frieze patterns are decorative patterns found in nature and in man made art. All frieze can be grouped into seven types. This presentation will be interactive and the participants will get to see various frieze patterns and will be able to classify them into one of the seven types, according to their specific symmetries. In the end I will also share an algorithm for determining the symmetry group of any frieze pattern.
Bionote-Imran Parvez Khan
Imran Parvez Khan is presently Visiting Faculty at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. Apart from having a diverse teaching experience, he has supervised undergraduate research projects on Teaching of Topology and Recreational Mathematics.
His research area is Topological String Theory. He is a co-author of Topology For Beginners (Oxford University Press, 2022). Mr Khan has earned his MS in Mathematical Physics from COMSATS University Islamabad
